- "Reflecting on memories continues to shape my journey towards personal growth in my current position." - Updated : Dec 2023
On January 6, 2015, I began my journey as an IT Automation Engineer at Intel MY a date I will always remember as it marked my first job role and I was hired as permanent staff from the very first day. I received the job offer a week before completing my industrial training, and though I was incredibly excited, I requested to start a week after finishing my training. Hired and work before graduated. Alhamdulillah, everything went smoothly, a blessing from Allah. The struggle was real; I was the only girl in the one of department at PG7 building at that time, and I had to survive and communicate well with my peers, who were all gentlemen. Thanks to Asyraf, Shahrul, Caven, Cavan, Edgar, Amri, Fazli, Wen Chieh, Eng Ping, Zong Xian, Ryan and many more for their support. After a month, I was lucky to have Linda then Anis join the department, thanks again to my manager (Ching Hoe)😅.
First, before I got this job, my parents, Mak and Ayah, were always by my side. They accompanied me to every interview and they were my reason and big "WHY" at that time (read: until now for sure). This job offer came after my third interview at Intel, each for different positions, buildings, and managers. Finally, I got the offer. As a first-degree holder, I was offered an extra salary, which was a significant and it was increase from my basic salary at the time.
I received three interview invitations from various plants and would like to share my interview journey at Intel MY: my first interview as a Software Engineer ended unsuccessfully, followed by another as a Network Engineer with the same outcome, but I succeeded in my third interview as an IT Automation Engineer 😇. It has been a profound experience! I am deeply grateful to my parents, who consistently support and accompany me in my endeavors. May Allah grant them good health and the highest place in paradise.
Being unmarried women yet (freshie 😀), it was manageable to work in shift rotations, specifically four days on and three days off. It was a significant achievement, and I enjoyed my time with peers. Wednesdays were my training days, and despite the pressure, I cherished meeting and working with my colleagues. However, by the end of October 2017, I made the decision to resign as I prepared to marry, realizing that the shift working hours no longer aligned with my new priorities. It was a difficult choice to leave my role as an IT Automation Engineer at Intel Malaysia, a company renowned as a "Great Place to Work." Yet, as they say, people may leave positions, but family and loved ones remain. I chose what was best for my family and my spouse.
I am grateful to Ching Hoe, who hired me, Suhaimi, my second manager, and Pei Chen, my third manager. Thanks to all my peers from the PG7 building in Penang and KM5 from Intel Kulim. My first job taught me invaluable lessons about independence and self-reliance. As people often say, "No one will help you except yourself," and this proved true for me. I also appreciate my international peers from VNAT, Arizona, Chengdu, and India, as we collectively supported factory operations 24/7 for production. I still remember all of you and stay connected with some through Facebook, like Kulvir, Tali Cohen, Jose, Jason Spencer, and many more who worked in the assembly area of Intel.
Before I forget, I had a one-on-one meeting with Pei Chen. In a meeting room, she asked me "WHY," and I answered that I wanted to be an educator and follow my husband. She shared her life story and said it was not easy, but she would pray for a better me. I hope to meet her again one day and show her that I have become an educator, now..
As my journey continues, my husband, Mak, Ayah, and now my children are my rock. Their prayers and support mean everything to me, especially as I navigate new chapters in life. Family is truly everything. Their encouragement gives me strength to face challenges, now as an educator in the government. Their belief in me keeps me going, even when things get tough. Their love reminds me to cherish every moment with them. Looking forward, I hold their hopes close to my heart, grateful for their unwavering presence in my life's journey.
~ Life moved forward, and I ended my journey at Intel for a better life as a wife and mother of two, and now, as a government servant. My journey did not end with Intel; I transitioned into various roles, including programmer and Pegawai Teknologi Maklumat, each with its unique story. I will share those stories later. Now, I serve as an educator in the government sector. Alhamdulillah but still pray the best version of me as a wife, daughter, mom and worker. Still need their prayers. May Allah protect everyone those i mentioned above, Mak, Ayah, husband and kiddos (Hana and Hani😍), always.. wherever they go, whatever they do. Aamiin.
Long way to go ~
Remember, everyone of us has a story. What's yours?
Cheers;
HafizahDesa
